The Executive Chairman of the Ifedore Local Government, Ondo State, Mr Alex Oladimeji has debunked the suspension claim by executive members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ijare Ward 1 of the council area.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a group of 21 people, led by Mr Taiwo Oni, on Wednesday claimed to have suspended the council chairman from the party over alleged anti-party activities.
The group, which claimed to be APC executive members in the ward, said, despite several warnings, Oladimeji’s activities in recent time were against the provisions of the party’s constitution.
In his reaction on Thursday in Akure, Oladimeji told NAN that the purported suspension was a mere ruse orchestrated by a mere group of people in the ward.
He noted that the real executive members of the party in the ward are yet to be inaugurated.
“As far as I am concerned, those people are a mere group because Ijare Ward 1 executives have not been inaugurated. And these people are neither old executive members nor the new ones that are yet to be inaugurated.
“The purported suspension is just to embarrass my personality. I have not been suspended because I have not committed any offence,” he said.
According to him, “if any member of the party needs to be suspended, there is a procedure outlined by the party’s constitution.
“You do not suspend someone on the pages of newspapers. They will write the person and he will defend himself but these people just woke up and declared me suspended. I have not received any letter to that effect,” he stated.
The chairman, therefore, told NAN that he would report the matter to the state leadership of the party for proper action.
