The Rector, Osun State Polytechnic Iree, Dr. Tajudeen Adewale Odetayo has reiterated his commitment to improved educational standard and welfare of staff and students of the Institution.
Dr Odetayo stated this on Monday while addressing the Polytechnic Community during an interreligious prayer session organized to usher him in as the sixth substantive Rector of the Institution.
According to the Rector of the Polytechnic, “we must give priority to moral and academic standard of our students, we must ensure a high level of discipline among staff and students of the Institution.”
He assured that the welfare of staff and students of the Institution would be one of the major priorities of his administration.
While speaking in his homily, the Chief Imam of Iree community, Alhaji Sulaiman Adeyemo ,admonished members of staff to shun conspiracy, backbiting and uncomplimentary comments on the Rector and his management team.
He urged them to cooperate with the new Rector in his bid to improve the standard of the Institution physically and academically.
He also prayed to God to give Dr. Odetayo the wisdom and knowledge to achieve his set objectives for the polytechnic Community.
Also speaking in a short sermon, the cleric in charge of the Sanders Baptist Church, Iree, Rev. (Dr.)Adekunle Adeyemi extolled the virtues of the Rector, saying ” he is a man of God who is intellectually endowed with leadership qualities.
He noted that he was divinely appointed by God to administer the polytechnic at this crucial time.
He prayed God to give him the enabling health and strength to discharge his duties.
He urged the Rector to ensure that he performs his duties with the fear and of God and love of humanity.
In his vote of thanks, Registrar of the Institution and Secretary to Council, Mr Busari Salawu(Esq ) assured the Rector of the unflinching supports of Management and Staff of the polytechnic.
Present at the occasion were members of the Top Management, Deans of Faculties,Directors of Programmes,Heads of Departments and Units and members of the Extended Management.
