OSSIEC Inaugurates 15-man Committee Ahead of Osun LG Election

Ahead of the February, 2025 local government election, Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) has inaugurated the Verification Committee saddled with the verification of documents and credentials submitted by the nominated candidates across parties in the state.

The 15-man committee chaired by the Alh. Abdul-lateef Olayanju was inaugurated on Monday by the Commission Chairman, Barr. Ashim Abioye, follow the conclusion of the political parties primary elections.

The Co-chairman is Mr. Kazeem Adeniyi olatokun, Barr. Iyabo Olawumi Olaniyi -Secretary others members are Mr Samson Abiola Amure, Mrs Hanifat Adenike Adediran, Olubisi Temitope Onifade, Mr. Tajudeen Badejoko , Mrs Bolaji Atolagbe, Mr. Adebayo Wasiu

Others are Rafat Bayonle Babatunde, Hamzat Wasiu Olajide, Adeyemi Aboderin – member representative of NUJ) 13. Barr. Tolulope Awolowo (National Youth Council Of Nigeria), Amobi Taofeek Olatunji (Representative Of Osun Internal Revenue Service), Adepoju Latifat Ranti (Representative Of Osun Internal Revenue Service).

Speaking, the Chairman,
Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), Barr. Ashim Abioye, reaffirmed the commission’s readiness to conduct free, fair, credible and acceptable election in the state.

Abioye said the committee is populated with the people of high integrity who have served or still serving their country in various capacities.

According to him “Members of the committee are seasoned professionals and technocrats; they are people of conscience and high repute. They are to look into the documents and the papers submitted by political parties and their candidates for the election.

“They are to look at age compliance, academic qualification compliance and tax compliance of the candidates. I want to believe that at the end of the day, the committee will submit their reports which shall be made public by the grace of God.

“With this, the confidence of the public in the integrity of the process being embarked upon by the Commission will be guaranteed. As we inaugurate this Committee today, we wish them and their team a huge success.”

Also, speaking on behalf of the committee, the Chairman of the verification committee, Alhaji Abdullateef Olayanju, commended the Commission for the trust and opportunity given to them and other members to serve the state.

Olayanju said”We promise to discharge our duties without favoritism. We also seek the cooperation of the people of Osun especially those who will be directly dealing with us during the activities of the committee.”
