The agitation to produce a governor from the western part of Osun is something a person with fair judgement will never against irrespective of his political or religion affiliation.
every state as created by the law of the federal republic of nigeria has three senatorial district ,Osun like other states since her creation in 1991 has had four democratically elected governors from almost the three senatorial districts of the state.
Records have it that the first executive governor of the state, indigene of ede ,late Isiaka Adekleke , who was from Osun West Senatorial district did not spend up to two years before military trauncated his administration.
After many years of military regime and the return of fourth republic in 1999 , Chief Bisi Akande, from Osun central senatorial district ,indigene of Ila-orangun was democratically elected and spent four years, later succeeded by another governor from the same district, prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, indigene of Okuku, who spent close to eight years.
Also, an indigenes of Ilesa, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, became the first governor produced by Osun East Senatorial district, spent eight years and later succeed by his then eight years chief of staff ,an Iragbiji born administrator, Gboyega Oyetola who is the incumbent governor of the state , from Osun Central.
It is laughable that one of the governor’s aide, Ismail Omipidan , who wants to remain in the corridor of power in his recent article titled “west and Osun 2022 governorship” could be persuading marginalized people of the Osun west with acclaimed infrastructures delivered by his principal to the nooks and crannies of the west to make them abandon their struggle.
Omipidan who is also an indigene of the state from Ila-orangun, Osun Central like other people full of hypocrite and arrogant will never want the west agenda to see the light of the day.
In his words “the agitators believe, rightly or wrongly, that the only time they can get the attention the area deserves is when it produces someone that will call the shots in Abere.
“Interestingly, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has in the last three years proved that one must not necessarily have his own at the helms to get government’s presence infrastructure-wise and in all spheres. what you need is a leader, who would see the entire state as his constituency, make sure that development touches every part of Osun.”
if going by omipidan’s intellectual advise it is a total insult to thousands of people from the Osun West, which simply means, that since we can not produce a governor for the state then we should accept whosoever is imposed on us,i would like to plead with him to persuade his principal not to re-contest come 2022 because he will be disgraced with massive votes.
I am very sure that even members from the fold of the factionalized group of all progressives congress, APC, of the state , Ilerioluwa who are from Osun west will abandon the governor when politicking gains momentum in 2022.
i do not care of the town, political party which produce the next Osun governor , but must be from Osun West in order for we the west lokan can have the a breath of releaf that we are part of the state.
