A group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State is advocating for the zoning of the governorship ticket to Osun West Senatorial District, contingent upon Gboyega Oyetola’s decision not to run for another term.

This development highlights the group’s strategic consideration, ensuring that the party’s interests are protected while promoting inclusivity. If Oyetola declines to run, the group believes that his deputy, His Excellency Benedict Olugboyega Alabi (BOA), who boasts the most experience among potential candidates, would be an ideal choice.

Notably, His Excellency Benedict Olugboyega Alabi (BOA) has demonstrated unwavering loyalty to the party, despite not being given any appointments since leaving office. He has not been seen establishing camps or factions or fighting/working against anyone. BOA has not been heard addressing the press to attract attention or to make a case for himself. This commitment underscores his dedication to the party’s ideals and principles.

The group’s push for zoning is motivated by a desire to foster equity and fairness within the party. By rotating the governorship ticket to Osun West, the APC can strengthen its roots in the state and ensure broader representation.

Furthermore, the former Deputy Governor’s experience and loyalty make him an attractive candidate. His familiarity with the inner workings of state governance, coupled with his commitment to the party, would provide continuity and stability.

Moreso, it should be noted that BOA and Oyetola hold a joint ticket and if Oyetola is unwilling to re contest, it will only be ideal to give the ticket to BOA.

As the APC prepares for the next governorship election, this development is poised to shape the party’s trajectory. The group’s advocacy for zoning and the former Deputy Governor’s potential candidacy have sparked interesting discussions within the party.
