Ahead of the governorship primaries of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, stakeholders in Ila Federal Constituency have endorsed Governor Gboyega Oyetola as preferred aspirant in the election.

The leaders drawn from all wards in Boluwaduro, Ila and Ifedayo local government areas converged at the country home of the former Governor of the State, Chief Bisi Akande on Tuesday for the endorsement.

In his welcome address, Hon. Richard Tinubu who stood in for Baba Fakayode, the APC Chairman in the Constituency, said the party leaders believe that Governor Gboyega Oyetola has performed wonderfully well in the last three years and he deserves the support of every party member.

He said, “Today, 15th February, 2022 is historic and solemn. This day is solemn and unprecedented in the annals of Ila/Boluwaduro/Ifedayo Federal Constituency. It is a day set aside by the Almighty God for us at the Federal Constituency to endorse our amiable, indefatigable, resourceful, unique leader, workaholic, calm, a well-trusted exemplary achiever, dogged political enigma, epitome of good governance, a practicalist, a paragon and phenomenon in the transformation of the State of Osun, Alhaji Isiaq Adegboyega Oyetola for a second term in office as Governor, State of Osun.

“We have all agreed at the Federal Constituency to endorse the Governor for a second term in office and to work assiduously for his re-election comes July 16th, 2022. This is because the Governor has set a new record in the art of leadership.

“His Excellency. Gboyega Oyetola, therefore deserves to be given an overwhelming support in his aspiration for a second term in office as Governor Our gathering here today for his endorsement by members of Ila/Boluwaduro/Ifedayo Federal Constituency is to acknowledge his good deeds and to support his aspiration for a second term in office. We assure the Governor of our massive support to ensure that His Excellency will come back as Governor come 27th November, 2022.”

Speaking at the programme, Senator representing Osun Central senatorial district, Ajibola Basiru condemned the comments made by former Governor Rauf Aregbesola during his visit to Ijebu-jesa.

The lawmaker described Aregbesola as someone “arrogating to much power to himself more that what he is”, adding that all stakeholders fought to reclaim Osun with the help of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Chief Bisi Akande.

“For someone to be saying he belongs to the Progressives that does not have Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Chief Bisi Akande, such a person must be fooling himself. We won Osun with the support of Asiwaju and Baba Akande.”

Basiru called on party faithful to troop out en mass to vote for Oyetola without fear of intimidation.

In their communique read by the Deputy Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Femi Popoola, the leaders said neither of the two aspirants seeking the party’s ticket can match the credentials and personality of Governor Oyetola, adding that the need for continuity of people’s oriented projects and lofty programmes embarked upon by the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola and also based on his unprecedented achievements antecedents as a lover of peace with a penchant for prudent management of resources, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ila/ Boluwaduro/ Ifedayo/ Federal Constituency, hereby, adopt and endorse Governor Ishiaq Adegboyega Oyetola as the candidate of our great party, APC, in the forthcoming July 16th Governorship election in the State of Osun. Evidently, Governor Oyetola has proved doubting Thomases wrong. Many had written the Governor off, at the inception of his administration.

Many doubted his leadership credentials and political astuteness. However, within a short span of time, the Governor in proving his worth, has turned the fortune of the state around despite the lean financial resources hat is available to the State. The Governor has impacted every facet of the economy, without relegating human capital development to the background. The responsive, transparent, resourceful Oyetola-led administration which is doggedly averse to corruption has brought about a phenomenal transformation across the length and breadth, of our dear state in an unprecedented manner Governor Oyetola has brought about multi-sectoral reforms in education. Owing to his commitment to the wellness and healthy living of his people, the Governor has rehabilitated over three hundred Primary Health Centers across the 332 wards in our state.”

Present at the programme include House of Representatives Member representing Ila Federal Constituency, Femi Fakeye; Osun State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker, Femi Popoola; Sunday Akere, Bode Olanipekun, Ismail Omipidan, Lateef Adebisi, Funmilayo Olaseinde, among others.
