Civil Society Coalition, Osun State,
has condemned Federal Government plan to deploy military personnel to pull down peaceful EndSARS protest across the the country.

The group made the condemnation while addressing journalists, on Tuesday, in Osogbo, state capital, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to execute action toward addressing the demands of the #EndSARS protesters with sincerity.

One of the group leader, Wole Oladapo said the demands of Nigerian youths must be urgently addressed to avert impending national outburst, saying the current situation in the country is not encouraging

Oladapo said the level of hunger unemployment, poverty, dilapidated infrastructures and other negative indices of human development is responsible for the current outburst of mass anger of both young and old Nigerians.

“The current situation in the Nation is factors for revolution are overripe and we will not shy away from advocating a peaceful one, devoid of bloodletting” he said

He maintained that tactics of revolutionary engagements are necessary to make maximum gain from the current protest.

Oladapo charged the youths not to relent in their agitation and constant advocacy for a better Nigeria that works for the citizens of the country with an end to police brutality and other forms of human right violations being meted to Nigerians by the state agents.

He, however, condemned rising scale of violence and criminality being disguised as part of the EndSARS and the attack on Governors Gboyega Oyetola and Kayode Fayemi of Osun and Ekiti States, looting at Osun Mall and extortion of money from commuter busses and private businesses.

According to him, “We call for a sincere and productive review of the Nigerian Police Act and its operations to reflect regional and states peculiarities, against this culture of one-size-fits-all in the drive to ensure security of lives and properties

“We accept the proposal of the Federal Government to initiate public panel of enquiry across the 36 States of Nigeria to look into various incidents of human right abuses at the behest of officers of the disbanded Special Anti Robbery Squad -SARS and other abuses by officers of the Nigerian Police Force in general.

“We therefore, call on all States Governors to expedite action in this regard and ensure that such committee or panel is composed to include representatives of the youths, civil societies and other sections of the society to reflect democracy and integrity.

“We call for democratically chosen representation into a National Action Council of Nigerian Youths or whatever nomenclature we may choose to fine-tune our demands and agenda for immediate action and future political engagements.

“We therefore, call on all sincere and concerned youths of Nigeria to join this effort to restore civility and orderliness to our protests, resist anarchistic tendencies and restrain bad egg among the protesters.

“It is noteworthy that brandishing of dangerous weapons and other forms of violence experienced in some places across Nigeria is nothing but handiwork of counter revolutionary forces who must be disarmed with civility and candor of peace without deviation from the focus of our protest”. he said
