The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Prof. Morufu Adeleke, has explained that only N600milion allocated to office of the governor for meal and entertainment for the 2024 budget not N11 billion

Adeleke made the clarification at a press briefing held at the Ministry of Finance complex, state secretariat, Abere, said office of the governor comprises of seven different agencies which includes the deputy governor, the Chief of Staff to the governor, protocol among others.

He said that about N8billion was allocated to office of the governor for the total recurrent not N11 billions as some people claimed.

According to him, “The office of the governor comprise about seven different agencies which includes office of the deputy governor, Chief of Staff to the governor, Bureau of General Services, Bureau of Government House Protocol, Bureau of Parastatal, Bureau of Social Services all these contingency are part of the office of the governor.

“The entire conglomerate of the office of the governor that was allocated about N8billion for total recurrent expenditure out of which only N600 million is for meal and entertainment.

“The claim that that huge amount of several billion of such allocated to the office of the governor for meal and entertainment is a blanter lie.

“The office of the Secretary to the State Government, (SSG) has a total recurrent expenditure about N3billion and it’s that N3billion that was added to N8billion to make N11billion that they were claimed. The SSG office as they are call, they are not just single 4 walls where individual sit, they are conglomerate of other dub- agencies, office. So tha information is not correct,” he added.

Analyzing the budget in details the commissioner said over 60 per cent, a total of N164.06 billion has been budgeted for recurrent.

The commissioner explained that Governor Adeleke who is determined to move Osun out from being a civil servants state to agro industrial based state budgeted 40 per cent, a total of N109,8 billion for capital.

He said, “Overall, salary/wages take N45,817,225,280 (16.73 percent); pension/gratuity takes N36,544,677,720 (13.34 per cent) making N82,361,903,000, (30.07 per cent), other recurrent expenditure includes overhead, which takes N54,020,730,880 (19.72 per cent).
