Senator Mudashiru Husain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has thrown his hat into the ring for the 2026 Osun governorship election, vowing to unseat incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
It would be recalled that Husain of the APC and Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) had contested for the Osun West Senatorial seat in 2017, and the latter won the seat.
Senator Husain while declaring his intention to contest for governorship under APC, boasted that he is ready to unseat Adeleke if the party choose him as the flagbearer of the party in the 2026 guber race.
The Senator in a statement by his campaign media head, Victor Ojelabi, recounted that his loyalty to APC contributed to Adeleke’s political structure when the party urged him to sacrifice his ambition for the Late Isiaka Adeleke for Senatorial seat in 2015 which later rubbed on Ademola Adeleke when he left the party for PDP.
According to the statement, “I had defeated Isiaka Adeleke(Ademola’s elder brother) in 2011 to be a Senator after which I conceded my ticket to him in 2014, hence I can do it again with the support of my party, APC and Osun State people.
“I have the capacity and experience to lead Osun State. I’m ready to unseat Ademola Adeleke and restore purposeful governance under the APC,” he stated.
