Local governments staff pensioners under the contributory scheme in Osun state on Friday celebrated one year existence of medical outreach organised by the forum.
The event which took place at the state secretariat of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employee, NULGE, Ilesa Garage, Osogbo saw the influx of retirees who retired from local governments from all the 30 local governments and Ife East Area office in attendance.
Speaking at the event, the chairman of the forum, Comrade Tajudeen Oyerinde said, the medical outreach organised by the forum one year ago has yielded tremendous result.
He noted that, the purposed of the program is to further meet the health demands of their members which has been positively achieved.
Oyerinde, who thanked the governor of the state, Senator Ademola Adeleke for introducing free medical outreach for the retirees through Osun Health Insurance Scheme said, the medical outreach organised by the forum is to complement the effort of the government in taking care of their health.
He however urged the members of the forum to, as a matter of importance take advantage of the program by the government for the sake of their health.
Echoing similar thing, the secretary of the forum , Comrade Sunday Adegeye said, the primary objective of the program is to assist their members in taking care of their health.
Adegeye said, the program, ranging from medical check up to drugs distribution is totally free.
Highlights of the program includes award presentations to some notable individuals such as, Hon. Bamidele Salami, the House of Representatives members, representing Ede North/ Ede South/ Ejigbo and Egbedore federal constituency, Comrade Bamidele Aina, the state secretary of Nigeria Union of Pensioners among others.
