The Salu of Edunabon, Oba Oladepo Adesoji, Akinrinsa II, has announced an indefinite suspension of the Egungun festival in Edunabon, located in Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State.

Speaking with journalists in Edunabon, Oba Oladepo stated that all activities related to the festival are to be put on hold until further notice.

During the announcement, the monarch also declared the suspension of Mr. James Ojuloge as the Alagbaa of Edunabon, directing him to stop parading himself as the custodian of the festival.

Oba Oladepo clarified that, as a traditional ruler and custodian of culture, he is not opposed to the celebration of the Egungun festival. However, he emphasized that such cultural practices must follow due process and respect traditional authority.

According to him, Mr. Ojuloge has shown blatant disregard for the authority of the Salu of Edunabon and lacks the native wisdom required to hold the sacred position of Alagbaa.

The royal father reiterated his commitment to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Edunabon. He further warned that any unauthorized or illegal attempt to organize the Egungun festival before a new Alagbaa is officially appointed would face the full weight of the law.

Oba Oladepo urged the residents of Edunabon to remain calm, law-abiding, and go about their daily activities without fear, assuring them that there is no cause for alarm. He also called for the continued maintenance of peace and harmony in the town.
