The Special Adviser to Governor Gboyega Oyetola on Youth and Sports, Honourable Adegboyega Adelabu Aremo has charged media practitioners in the state on the need to pay attention to their health through regular medical assessment, physical exercise and intake of balanced diets to enhance their physical and mental well-being.
Aremo gave the charge while addressing members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Osun State Council after the Health Walk to mark the 2021 NUJ Press Week.
The medium reports that members of NUJ led by their Chairman, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu, had earlier converged on the press centre before proceeding to Oke-Fia, Olaiya and later terminated the health Walk at the council.
The SA Youth and Sports who is one of the sponsors of the Health Walk commended members of the NUJ in the state for imbedding the health Walk into their press week celebration, saying it gives members the opportunity to partake as many do not have enough opportunities to exercise regularly.
Aremo while emphasizing on the significance of regular exercise said it was incumbent upon each and everyone of them to do at least 30 minutes physical exercise on a daily basis.
“As a matter of fact, media play critical roles in nation building. So, there is need for people in the society to always give kudos to the Media practitioners because they play germane roles in nation building.
“We as politicians, we both partner in the development of the country
“However, I want to charge members of pen pushers on the need to always pay special attention to their health through regular medical assessment, exercise and intake of balanced diets to enhance their physical and mental well-being.
He, however, enjoined journalists to continue to support the Governor of the state, Mr Gboyega Oyetola in his bid to take the state to the greater heights.
“I want to use this opportunity to solicit your support for my principal, our amiable Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola in his bid to transform the state and make life better for residents of the state.
“We have been enjoying your support. Our Governor has been doing immensely well and we need you to help blow the trumpet of his good deeds across the nooks and crannies of the country.”
Speaking, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu appreciated the SA for counting them worthy to be part of the health Walk.
Ajadosu said: “Journalists and Politicians were together in the struggle of developing the state together.
“We are in the struggle of developing the state together. For you to have deemed it fit to be part of the wealth, we really appreciate you sir.”
The Chairman pointed out that the leadership of the union was concerned in particular about enhancing the health and welfare of members.
In his entourage are the Secretary Oriade South LCDA, Honourable Sikiru Tijani, the SA Personal Assistant, Mr Jamiu Adelabu among other dignitaries.
