The Osun Online Media Practitioners Association (OOMPA), on Tuesday, mourned the demise of popular Uniq FM broadcaster, Sunday Olufemi Alakinde, who passed away on Monday through a ghastly motor accident.

OOMPA, in a press statement jointly signed by its Chairman and Publicity Secretary, Jare Tiamiyu, Comrade Bright Olorungbotemi, expressed deepest pain over the sudden death of the people’s presenter, Alakinde.

In the statement the association noted that the demise of Alakinde is a colossal loss to the family of Osun pen pushers adding that the circumstances that led to his death is unfortunate.

The statement reads in part; “Sunday Alakinde was a great motivator and mentor to many, he demonstrated excellent sense of hardworking and impacting listeners. His active participation in the field of the fourth realm, promoted the ideals of the journalism profession, he will forever be remembered.

“Alakinde was a fine and dependable journalist who carved a niche for himself in uplifting journalism practice and sacrificed so much for the profession even at the expense of his convenience and resources.

“Indeed, Alakinde’s glowing attributes are virtues that call for emulation by all journalist,” the statement reads.

While commiserating with the family of late Alakinde the union said, “our hearts go to the immediate family for the Lord God Almighty to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

“Late Sunday Aakinde, a Yoruba program presenter, a committed and a progressive staff that Uniq FM Ilesa could be vaunt of.

Until his death, he was a former national organizing secretary of the freelance and independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria(FIBAN).
