Rector, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Mr Kehinde Adeyemi Alabi on Monday received a former Student Union President of the Institution, Comrade Samsudeen Ajao( A. K. A Impeccable) saying he had done the Institution proud.

The Guiness World Record holder for Longest Marathon Reading, Comrade Samsudeen Alao, who graduated from the Osun State Polytechnic,Iree in 2021, was a student leader whose tenure was adjudged peaceful and productive in the student union era in the Institution.


The event which took place at Board of Studies Building in the Osun Polytechnic had members of Management and students Union Stakeholders in attendance.

The Rector congratulated Comrade Ajao on attaining the great feat, describing him as a source of inspiration to other students in the Institution.
The Rector, noted that his administration is concerned with the welfare of staff and students of the polytechnic. He noted that within his short period in office, his administration has accredited more courses both at National and Higher National Diploma levels, while accreditation has also been granted to the institution to be affiliated to the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka and University of Ilorin to run degree programmes in the polytechnic.

Also Speaking at the event, Registrar of the Institution, Mr Abiodun Oyedele Oloyede, commended the GWR holder for making use of the institution’s motto “Excellence in Character and Technology”, Oloyede thanked him for placing Ospoly high among the best polytechnics in the world. He charged the current students to borrow a leaf from him by creating a good image for themselves and the Institution.

In his address, the Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols, Mr. Bayo Fadeji described Comrade Ajao as a product of humility who succeeded during his reign as the Student Union President.

In his remarks, the Guinness World Record Awardee for Longest Marathon Reading Comrade Samsudeen Ajao lauded the Rector for his support, he also commended the leadership of the school under Mr Kehinde Adeyemi Alabi for making it possible for the institution to achieve tremendously in the last two years.

Comrade Ajao appealed to the Rector to consider building more conducive environments for lectures, and put in place democratically elected student union leaders

In his vote of thanks, Dr. Olutope Abiola, expressed his appreciation to the Rector on behalf of the management and the students for coming to welcome the GWR holder, he assured the Rector that other students will do greater things to lift up the Institution. He noted that students of the Institution are moulded not only in vocations , but in character .

Other management staff who graced the occasion included the Bursar, Mr. Sunday Ademola Afolabi; Director of Works and Services, Engr. John Abiola; Director of Puublication, Dr Abayomi Odebunmi and Director of Career Services, Prince Adekunle Olalekan.
It would be recalled that Comrade Samsudeen Ajao, who is widely known as ‘Impeccable’ was given the award in June 2024 after his excellent performance at the 215 hours Marathon Reading at Adolak International Hotel Osogbo.

The disclosure was made by the Railway District Manager of NRC, Mr Aliyu Mainasara, during the unveiling of the rail line services in Bauchi during which the RDM, management team and passengers were conveyed from the Bauchi station to Inkil Community and back to the main station in Bauchi. While speaking at the occasion, Aliyu Mainasara pointed out that the Services will run from Monday to Saturday three times in a day with a token of N200 per trip from Bauchi station to Inkil Community stressing that each trip will be accompanied by security personnel to protect passengers and their belongings. According to him, "The train has the capacity of conveying between 70 to 100 passengers with comforting facilities on each trip". The RDM however said that full services will commence on Monday, September 5, 2022 with daily and monthly schedules saying that the North-Eastern district had not run a single train in the last seven years due to challenges posed by insecurity and vandalization of its tracks . The RDM stressed that, "The initiative will accord the citizens and children to test the rail services because there are people who don't have experience of rail services. With this, the children from schools would go for an excursion from Bauchi station to Inkil Community that is five kilometers from Bauchi station". He then assured that, "By the end of this year, we will extend the services to Alkaleri local government area of the state up to Gombe state respectively" . He also said that Engineers in the District are working on the tracks for the expansion of the scope of services to the Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state saying that, “The moment we fixed the tracks up to Alkaleri, believe me, we will start to run our trains as well as Gombe in the District".
