The Osun State Government has ordered a full investigation into the alleged food poisoning of 18 students at St. James Primary School (B) Owoope in Osogbo.

Following the incident, Governor Ademola Adeleke directed the immediate stoppage of food cooking under the O-Meal program in the school.

The affected cooks and their planning officer have been summoned to a meeting today to discuss the situation. Additionally, the Governor has ordered the enforcement of food standards and an audit of the O-Meal program structure to prevent similar incidents in the future.

He said, ”The governor has directed enforcement of food standards as well as the auditing of O-Meal structure to prevent future occurrence.”

The statement confirmed that all medical bills of the affected students have been settled by the state government, and they have all been discharged from the hospital.

Local Government Education Authority Chairman, Mr Nathaniel Ojetola, confirmed that 18 students were treated and discharged.
