The Speaker, Osun House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Timothy Owoeye on Friday emerged as Nigerian NewsDirect State Speaker of the year at the 12th Anniversary Award/lecture of the Newspaper.

The Publisher of Nigerian NewsDirect, Dr. Samuel Ibiyemi said that the Nigerian NewsDirect 12th Anniversary and Award Ceremony Committee resolved to honour Owoeye, the Speaker of the Osun 7th Assembly for his outstanding leadership roles.

Ibiyemi said the Assembly under the leadership of Owoeye remains undivided and calm despite the change of government in the state, adding that little or no fracas has been reported about the House in the past three and a half years.

He described the Osun State House of Assembly as one of the most peaceful assemblies in Nigeria under the leadership of Owoeye as the Speaker, noting that Owoeye has proven to the whole world the value of his wealth of experience in legislative duties since his assumption in office.

“Most of the policies and laws that came out of Osun Assembly have promoted investment and even made it easy for the government to run the affair of the state peacefully which encourage the investors to come to Osun.

“The leadership skills of Osun Speaker have assisted him to maintain the Assembly after the governorship election, for this we want other state speakers to emulate the attributes and attitudes of the Osun Speaker.

Owoeye who was represented at the event by the Clerk of the House of Assembly, Mr Simeon Amusan commended the board and management of the Nigerian NewsDirect Newspaper for the timely and wonderful award.

He on behalf of the Speaker dedicated the award to the Honourable members of the 7th Assembly for their relentless effort in advancing the development of the state.

According to Amusan, “The award is not coming to us as a surprise because we know the worth of the speaker, Osun House of Assembly is second to none when we are talking of legislative business, he has been in the legislative arm for almost 16 years now, this is very wonderful and timely.”

“The Executive and legislative relationship is excellent in Osun, though, the Assembly is an APC dominated legislature and the executive arm is PDP, yet governance of the state is going on without rancour since the emergence of the new administration, the major focus of the Assembly is making laws that’ll prosper the State and its inhabitants.”
