Osun Waste Management Agency, OWMA, has cautioned the residents to shun indiscriminate waste disposal to avoid spread of disease especially during period when the state is fighting COVID-19.
OWMA charged the citizenry to embrace cleanliness and desist from littering their environment with trashes.
Speaking, the General Manager , Mr. Oyewole, F. O urged the residents of the state to corporate with the agency in an effort to keep the state clean to ensure healthy environment for all.
Oyewole on Monday, said the best way to curb the spread of diseases in a society is to embrace the attitude of environmental cleanliness at all level.
He further stressed the need for all residents of the state to take environmental sanitation as civic responsibility and encourage their neighbor to do the same.
He said market places are sensitive environment where lot of food consumed are bought. He however, called on market men and women to ensure their surrounding is always clean in order to save customer from contracting disease.
He promised that his agency will always do everything possible by ensuring that trashes are transported to the designated area by the government.
He also urged residents to desist from dumping trashes into drainage or gutter saying doing so may cause unwanted flooding capable of threat to life and destroying of properties.
The OWMA boss lauded Governor Gboyega Oyetola led administration for his unflinching support towards the smooth running of the agency at the period when the state is economically down as a result of coronavirus pandemic.
He also appealed for provision of new vans to intensity operations of the agency saying the available vans are aged.
