A group of youths in Osun State, under the aegis of the Coalition of Concerned Nigerian Citizens (CCNC), have staged a protest against the state’s Commissioner for Youth Development, Moshood Olagunju, over alleged politicization of the National Youth Conference list.
The youths, who had participated in a nationwide protest in August 2024 against insecurity, economic hardship, inflation, and unemployment, expressed concern that their efforts were not being recognized in the selection process for the conference.
Speaking, the group’s spokesperson, Comrade Oluomo Success said that the Commissioner allocated only one slot to their group out of nine and stipulated that the representative must be a female.
The protesters demanded transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in the selection process, warning that they would continue to protest until their demands are met.
They also called on Governor Ademola Adeleke to intervene and call the Commissioner to order.
The Commissioner, however, claimed that the directives came from the federal government.
