The pioneer Bishop of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Owo Diocese, Rt. Rev. Williams Egbetakin has charged the President-elect, Bola Tinubu to embark on reconciliation move to unite all the ethnic groups and restructure the country.

The new Bishop also urged Tinubu to be magnanimous in victory by constituting a government of national unity and extending the hand of fellowship to other contestants who lost the election for the speedy development of the country.

Egbetakin stated this while speaking during a press conference to herald his enthronement as the Bishop of Owo Diocese, Methodist Church Nigeria in Owo, said Nigerians are in pains and are yearning for good governance, functional economy and a safe nation.

He said “The citizens are in pains, so the president-elect should not make the citizens regret voting for him as the president.

“Fight for what is right, be disciplined, don’t join the multitude to do evil, revive Nigeria and make sure that the country peaceful”

He stressed the need for Tinubu to give adequate attention to the nation’s security, economy, unemployment and other programmes that will restore peace and tranquillity in Nigeria.

Speaking on his enthronement as the pioneer Bishop of Owo Diocese, Egbetakin disclosed that the Primate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr Oliver Alli Aba will inaugurate him as the first Bishop of Owo Diocese.

He said his enthronement follows the elevation of Owo Diocese, saying his new position is a recognition of his exceptional spiritual and administrative service to the church.

Egbetakin however, promised to lay a solid foundation for the new Diocese and said: ” We will turn our vision to mission, make the diocese a character ladden etiquette one that will be able to affect the society positively, also, to make the diocese a financial vibrant one because the integrity of the church is in test”.

“I need good people to assist me to put these things in position so that others coming can continue to lay on this foundation.

“I want to put the church in a good shape so that it will be homely because the environment where you live will enhance your productivity.
We will expand this diocese and create some avenues that will bring comfort to the citizens”

He advised ministers of God to return to teaching and praying, as those are part of the responsibility of ministers of God

He stated that maximum security has been put in place towards having a peaceful inauguration and enthronement.

Egbetakin became a Bishop on the 14th of August, 2022 at the 48th/ 13th biennial conference of Methodist Church Nigeria, sponsored by Benue Archdiocese but hosted by Abuja.

Egbetakin who was the Dean of Emmanuel College Ibadan, for 25 years would be enthroned as the pioneer Bishop of Owo diocese of Methodist church Nigeria on Thursday, 23rd of March, 2023 at Methodist church Nigeria, Owo.
