The Association Of Garri Producers in Osun State, on Thursday eulogized the leadership style of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in strengthening the economy of the state by patronizing the local food produces in the state
Addressing a press conference in Osogbo, Osun state capital, the chairman of the group, Mr Tajudeen Azeez said since the creation of the state, the present government’s policies on Agro Economic second to none.
Azeez further said that many people in the state have been engaging in positive way since the acceptance of the local food by the government.
He commended Governor Oyetola for the love of he has his people by accepting the locally produced food especially garri which according to him has helped to empower thousands of the residents at the rural areas where both the raw materials and finished products are being produced.
He said: “The entire Osun State Association of Garri Producers in honour of our people friendly Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola who has succeeded in turning around the economy of the state in no small measure.
“It is no gainsaying to affirm that Governor Oyetola’s aggressive grassroots development, especially via agro economic policies has no match since the creation of Osun State. For instance, the Osun Food Support Scheme (Ounje lleri) created by his administration is the first of its kind in Osun State and Nigeria at large.
The scheme alone has wonderfully strengthened the local content, boosted the state economy, cushioned the harsh effect of hunger and provided jobs for many youths in the state among numerous other benefits of the scheme
“We thus have the assurance that history will be kind to our amiable Governor for his selfless services to the people. He will forever be remembered as a humble leader with Midas touch who takes in giving sucour to his subjects.
“So far, about one thousand metric tonnage (1,000) of Garri has been purchased by the state government, meaning that Osun farmers have produced over Four thousand (4,000) tonnage of cassava tubers specifically for the Garri delivery to the state government in shortest period of time.” he added
Speaking, one of the leaders of Garri seller, Mr Sadiat Muritala thanked the government for the kind gesture which said it has improved the production chain of the products captures farmers, processors transporters, artisans among others.
Muritala said that the government patronage has given birth to more Garri processing centers across the state which she said are owned by young entrepreneurs and active women.
Similarly, Mr Oyewale Azeez said that since the government have started the partnership with them their business has been improved to unexpected level.
“There is no lamentation of low sells of garri like before since the time government has been incorporated us to the Osun Food Support Scheme (Ounje lleri).
“We pray God to continue to lead him all right and give him more success,” he said
