Governor Oyetola, How will you stand before History? It is instructive that you may be excited in your self evaluation that you are working or in the hosanna hymns that the Yes Boys are singing. However what is on the ground, the reality on the lips of the masses is to the otherwise judgement against you. For 2 years Osun is on a spot and it is my sacred interpretation that 2 years is enough to make a ray of difference. Yaradua did not spend 2 years in office before we started seeing the paradigm shift, alas death snatched the good man and his best intentions. He increased NYSC members’ allowance, he embarked on a truly electoral rebirth amidst other policies big wins all within under 2 years. Your 2 years is sadly wasting away or has wasted. They are depicted by make believe pseudo achievements. I do not hate you your Excellency but I like more to say and stand by the truth. You are never transparent to the citizens and that ought to be the first test of leadership. Your subjects ordinarily should believe you. Lack of such cordial trust was why there has been attempt twice on your life most condemnable though but it is the reality. Why did those you are governing over wanting to kill their Leader? First it was on the eve of the new year but thank God that your security details are professional enough to avert evil and safe the State from tragedy. Secondly during the #EndSars protest too, another unfortunate daring attempt was made on your Excellency’s life. We are praying for you Mr Governor for safety but it is time to reflect on what you are missing and what you are not getting correctly. It is time to say the truth to yourself and stop listening to the praise singers who shout your hosanna. You are only being caged Ogbeni Oyetola!
Before I digress much, what have you been doing in office for 2 years? You are killing the local economy by way of muzzling the indigenous contractors. This is the plain truth beyond the false rhetoric by your administration that unlike your Predecessor you are not taking everything to Lagos. There is no difference between 6 and half a dozen. What is happening is that you are killing the local contractors to please a few of your trusted good Boys. What is the business of only one contractor embarking on clearly uncompleted little contractors that litre sparsely, around? The case of the one in Ede where I hail is better left untold. The public knows the contractor. We thought it was an answerable prayer not until when the road started to wear and depleted almost immediately before the contractor could vacate the site after acclaimed completion, under 6 months of delivery. If the government has not paid for the retention fee on the hogwash rehabilitation of station Road in Ede, I urge you Dear Governor to inspect the site or dispatch those who will tell you the truth to see for yourselves. There is no value for whatever money committed on the road as it were. The Boys have just successfully been fed.
Governor Yahyah Bello recently told us an information that you and your colleagues had kept away from us. He said each Governor did not take less than #1 billion to mitigate the effect of the Coronavirus. You have not debunked this. What have you used #1 Billion for in the fight against Covid-19? Instead the electorates were supplied with poisonous rice to which you promised to bring the government contractors to book but nothing has happened till date? What happens to the right of those served sub standard 2 tins of rice for the few that were lucky to get it?
What Yahyah Bello has not told Nigerians but which I am privileged to have a knowledge of is that the FG harped on mass testing when they gave Billions to each of you Governors. For example it has a conditionality that a State should carry out testing on minimum 10% of her population. For Osun State, officially with a census figure of more than 4 million people. 10% of 4 million will give a mathematics of 400,000 that should have been tested. How much people has Osun State government tested for Coronavirus? Why is your APC government failing to treat the people well in a transparent mode? Posterity beacons.
The one thing that is agitating my mind is that it appears we do not have a parliament that should serve as a check and balance medium? The House of Assembly under Honourable Timothy Owoeye is not justifying the purpose for which they are in office for which it ought to be in the fighting on the side of the masses. If you get #1 Billion, Is the House aware? If they are aware did they know how you spent it? In their consciousness, Are the 26 members in the hallowed chamber convinced that you have judiciously utilised #1 billion on Covid-19 management in Osun State? This is apart the state resources and the LGs resources that would have gone into this. If you have not expended the whole money, is the House not competent to ask for a breakdown of how you have redirected the spendings? Too much powers but little responsibilities for the Leaders that have been voted to power.
Lastly, the media hub in Osun State are too afraid to play the roles of ostrich and watchdogs who should ask questions on behalf of the downtrodden. Is either they are complacent, lazy, or have signed into an accord strange to the ethics of their profession.
Governor Gboyega Oyetola, you remain unpopular. The more than 255,000 that said NO to you on September 22nd when Osun voted are not having change of mind till this time. And those who managed to vote even for APC are losing faith in you in turns. This is no intimidation. You can not be the first incumbent to be so treated assuming you lose upcoming election but think about history. How will history judge and place you even if you end up spending lone term?
