Osun state Governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, has charged cooperative societies on transparency and accountability in their cooperate governance and business to ensure qualities leadership in the system prevail.

Oyetola made the call on Thursday at the commissioning of business centre building of Osun State Broadcasting Corporation Radio and Television Cooperative Society in Osogbo, Osun State capital.

The Governor who was represented by the secretary to the state government ,Prince Wole Oyebamiji ,said the prudence ,transparency and accountability are elements that can deliver more improved prosperity at the present situation of economy in the state.

The Governor urged the citizens in the state to join credit and thrift societies in order to enhance their chances of engaging in small businesses for development of their society.

He maintained that the initiative is a good step towards complimenting the dream of the present administration under Governor Gboyega Oyetola to create jobs for teeming unemployed youths.

He further stated that the Oyetola administration is working tireless to reduce level of poverty and banish hunger at these austere times.

According to him, “At this time when the economy of the world is crashing and personal businesses and means of survival are drying up cooperative societies remain a tool for empowering members to cope with the harsh realities of the times.

“Our administration believes that the informal sector is critical to our internationally generated revenue drive and economic transformation plans as it has been proved

“It is therefore laudable that the OSBC Radio and Television cooperative society is thinking out of the box by expanding its income folio through the establishment of a business centre enterprise for the improved income and welfare of its members.

He therefore, implored the residents in the state to continue to support the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola as he assured that government will continue to make life more better for the people.
