Angry indigenes of Erin-Osun in Irepodun Local Council Development Area, Osun have expressed their disappointment to Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s aide, Engineer Rufus Oyegbile act of chanting APC at the Erin-Osun Progressive Union’s congress.
Oyegbile, who is the Special Adviser to Governor Oyetola on Sanitation during the EPU congress organized to elect new executive held at the community’s town hall on Monday when he was given the opportunity to speak chanted APC.
The chanting of APC by the SA arose anger of majority of those in the hall while some of some other spotted wearing Oyetola’s orange cap jubilation in satisfaction.
After efforts made by organizers of the congress to duse the tension created by the governor’s aide, he was stopped from addressing the gathering and the program continued.
Reacting to the act of the governor’s aide, the outgoing President of the Erin-Osun Progressive Union, Engineer Hassan Alao said the political display by Oyegbile at the 2021 Moje Day was unfortunate and needless.
Engineer Alao who condemned the act also stressed that the ugly incident that led to the suspension of electing new executive for EPU must be avoided in totality for future congresses.
“Being an executive of EPU is to serve ,no monetary benefit is attach to the service, I wonder why people are so much interested in the election at all cost.
“I am afraid if politicians are not barred from influencing decisions in EPU ,the future may be disastrous” he said.
Ibrahim Isola in his own reaction berated the aide to Governor Oyetola saying what he did was a total disrespect to the presence of Elerin and his chiefs-in council.
Earlier speaking with our correspondent, chairman of the electoral committee, Adelani Aderinola described the incident that led to the suspension of electing new leaders of EPU as worrisome.
When asked on the possibility of appointing new executive if election fails to hold, Aderinola said the community can decide on that if they wish so.
Blaze Newz gathered that the EPU election after it could not hold members of the EPU Board of Trustees chaired by Chief Moses Faniyi was given the mandate to start acting as interim exco.
Chief Faniyi while accepting the interim exco promised that his leadership will restore peace in the union, adding that election will hold before 2022 Easter celebration.
