Parents of public schools in Osun have raised their voices challenging Governor Gboyega Oyetola led adminstration to give reason why Omoluabi Scholar Bus meant to assist pupils across the state seized operation.
They said if Osun government is really sincere in assisting masses children who attend public schools to get quality education those at helm of education must come out publicly to tell the world why their new education policy excluded Omoluabi Scholar Bus.
BlazeNewz gathered that the Omoluabi School Bus was one of the socio-economic program of former Governor of the state who is now the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to support parents/guardians and pupils of the state.
This medium recall that the 35 Omoluabi Scholar Bus purchased by Aregbesola led adminstration are meant to convey students from their respective homes to schools and back every school-day.
It was also gathered that apart from providing safe and convenient transport medium to the students at subsidised fare significantly below the prevailing commercial fare at discount it will enable parents and guardians to save excess money spent on their wards daily.
Besides providing social support, the Omoluabi Scholar Bus” initiative empowered youths through way of job creation, equity stake in the scheme via co-operatives.
Reacting, Mr Lawal Abdulrasheed, father of four pupils attending Ataoja School of Science, Osogbo said it was surprised to him that the present administration of Governor Oyetola muted on the Omoluabi Scholar Bus.
He added that in as much the Osun government wants the masses to appreciate the new education policy Omoluabi Scholar Bus must be revisited for the sake of parents/guardians and pupils.
“We can not afford spending much for transport fare on our children in this kind of ugly economy situation after this same Osun government, which our governor (Mr Gboyega Oyetola) was part of it in the past years provided buses to assist pupils of government-owned secondary schools ” he lamented.
Another parent, Mrs Abimbola Kajogbola in her reaction challenged the government to open up on the situation of the Omoluabi Scholar Bus.
She said the parents and guardians would be ready through Parents and Teachers Association, PTA, to support government on challenges it is confronting on the Omoluabi Scholar Bus if there are.
“We expect better package for pupils welfare with the new education policy of the state with advance method to use the Omoluabi Scholar Bus” she said.
Mrs Abimbola Awoyemi, a widow with three grandchildren in public schools lauded Governor Oyetola for being a listening leader, however, urged him to address issues concerning Omoluabi Scholar Bus.
“She said since it is fundamental right for all child to get education, government must also take responsibility to create enable environment for easy access for both the rich and the poor” she said.
