POS, Lotto Kiosk owners decry increase of levy imposed by local council chair

The Point Of Sale POS and lotto shops owners in Ado-Odo, Ota Local government, Ogun State have described newly imposed N100 daily levy as barbaric and anti people policy by the caretaker chairman, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu.

The chairman who introduced the new levy amidst the global economy trauma, said the mandatory fees is to pay by POS/Lotoo kiosks owners as part of revenue to the local government.

It was gathered that POS business owners pays Permit and extension money daily to the pulse of the government in the area before this new development.

While lamenting the business owners insisted that the newly imposed fee is unbearable and illegal.

PoS and Lotto daily ticket in Ado Odo Ota local council area of Ogun State.

According to one of the shop onwers who spoke with journalist, Mr. Adeleke Babatunde said the POS kiosk/shop is paying for shop permit and shop extension that is being to local government account before the new development came up.

Babatunde added that Coronavirus pandemic has caused low sales of goods across nation which affects their business seriously.

“lots of shop owners depend on daily income to feed there family, how do they want us to survive paying almost N1000 daily to Local government through different type of tickets? he asked

He also said “We can’t afford to be under duress without speaking out”.

However, we gathered the most available business/shop in Ado-Odo Ota Local government is POS and Lotto businesses which is said to be between the range of 2,500 to 4,000.
