The Ogun State chapter of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), under the leadership of its chairman, Otunba Femi Soluade, has hailed the recent Federal High Court ruling in Abuja, which prevents the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) from prosecuting Hon. Kamorudeen Ladi Adebutu.

In a statement released on behalf of the coalition, Soluade described the ruling as a “triumph of good over evil”, putting an end to what he termed a “political witch-hunt” aimed at disqualifying Adebutu ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.

“This is a sweet victory of a prey over its predator,” the statement read. “The evil that men do now lives with them, and this judgment is a testament to that. It has permanently halted the unjust attempts by the powers that be to sideline Hon. Adebutu from the political scene.”

CUPP lauded Adebutu as a “doyen of opposition politics, a dogged fighter, and an icon of modern democracy in Ogun State.” The coalition further commended his resilience, stating that he had effectively “punctured the deceptive balloon of a political monster who sought to eliminate him from contention.”

The statement also served as a strong warning to opposition political parties in Ogun State, urging them to refrain from being used as mere political pawns by the ruling party. CUPP advised opposition leaders to focus on strengthening their parties rather than endorsing unlawful activities, which, it claimed, only led to “political perdition and resentment.”

“While CUPP does not endorse any single candidate, we support credible alliances that can produce formidable candidates committed to democracy, progressive governance, and the development of Ogun State,” Soluade stated.

The coalition criticized the continued recycling of “redundant political figures”, describing it as “motion without movement” and a setback for genuine progress.

With this legal victory, CUPP believes that Hon. Ladi Adebutu now has an open pathway to contest in the 2027 Ogun State gubernatorial election, free from legal obstructions allegedly orchestrated by political adversaries. The coalition expressed optimism that a strong opposition alliance could pave the way for a Government of State Unity, where capable and visionary leaders would work collectively to unlock the state’s full potential.

We opined that the recycling of same spent redundant personnel is counterproductive, retrogressively dancing in a circle like” motion without movement.”

This Victory has now opened up a clear path for Hon Oladipupo Adebutu to present himself in the service of Ogun State and Nigeria again in 2027 and other notable and experienced aspirants who have gone thru the rudiment of political ladder in any party against accidental power mongers.

CUPP concluded by reaffirming its commitment to democratic principles, urging all opposition parties to prepare for the 2027 elections with a focus on governance, not political distractions.
