The College of Education, of Osun State University, witnessed a momentous occasion on Tuesday, 25th June 2024, as the newly appointed principal officers of the university visited the campus.
The team was led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic, Research, and Innovation), Professor Adetunji Kehinde, who represented the Vice-Chancellor.
The delegation included the Registrar, Mrs. Atinuke Oguntunde, the University Bursar, Mr. Akintayo Lasisi, and the University Librarian, Dr. Olugbenga Adewuyi.
The visit was a significant milestone, demonstrating the commitment of the university’s leadership to the growth and development of the College of Education of Osun State University.
In her welcome address, the Provost of the College, Professor Florence Yusuf, expressed her gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for his unwavering support.
She highlighted several notable things the Vice-Chancellor has done for the College in the past few months, including the recent employment of over 20 temporary and part-time lecturers, with hopes for further recruitment of part-time lecturers for cognate subjects.
The establishment of two centres for online teaching, equipped with reliable power supply from 8 am to 6 pm. The equipping of science laboratories and the employment of technologists.
The ongoing development of the Post-graduate Resource Centre.
The visit provided an excellent opportunity for the College to showcase its accomplishments, discuss its challenges, and outline its plans.
The presence of the esteemed leaders was highly motivating for all staff and students. During the visit, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic, Research, Innovation and Partnership) and other Principal Officers present on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor of the university made several significant promises to support the College’s development, including installing solar panels at the Post Graduate Resource Centre for power supply, provision of an office complex for staff members and disinfection of the College Library.
These commitments were met with great enthusiasm and optimism by the entire College community. The staff and students were particularly excited about the potential improvements in infrastructure and overall welfare.
Additionally, on behalf of the College, the DVC (ARIP), presented gift to Winner of 2024 OSUSU Debate Competition Oladipo Micah Ayomide 100L student of Biology Education .
Also, the principal officers congratulated the Awardees of the Osun Development Forum, Texas, USA Scholarship Scheme: Afolabi Celestina Aderonke (400 level English Education), Arowolo Blessing Olabimpe (400 level English Education), and Popoola Caleb Kehinde (400 level English Education). The outstanding performance of our Sub-Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Rukayat Iwintolu, was also acknowledged.
We are confident that these commitments will significantly contribute to the advancement of the College and enhance the educational experience for all. We look forward to witnessing the positive changes and working collaboratively towards achieving our shared goals.
