The attention of the Management of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo has been drawn to a conjecture issued by an unknown group, Osun Eagle Eye on Good Governance, alleging the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Peter Olaitan and the entire management team of the hospital of misappropriation and high-handedness.

The group in their various unsubstantiated releases said the CMD lacked administrative skills. Also, that he has poorly managed all the medical facilities and infrastructures in the hospital. They also fabricated a lie that the CMD misappropriated funds in purchase of consumables.

Though, we would have ignored their lies because the said group is not a registered group, it has no member, but because of the Innocent readers who may want to believe their lies, hence our response. Also, the management of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital is aware that some unscrupulous elements within the system who are hell-bent in tarnishing the image of the CMD are the ones bankrolling the faceless group. At the appropriate time, the perpetrators of this evil shall be fished out.

The hospital will like to put the records straight on the following allegations:

Non – Chalant attitude: The administration of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital Management under the leadership of Prof. Peter Babatunde Olaitan has never left any stone unturned when it comes to the overall development of hospital and it’s personnel because, services and staff development top the priority list of the hospital Management.

Lack of Administrative Skills: The Chief Medical Director is an Administrative person per excellent who has held many administrative positions successfully before the current one and who doesn’t make a decision without involving Technocrats. Any decision made by the Management goes inline with the administrative and professional procedures as guided by the Teaching hospital service rules and regulations.

As part of these is a monthly meeting with all heads of Department/ Unit which allows everyone to delibrate on the development of the hospital, appreciation of staff who has shown outstanding character traits in their various fields, training and re-training of staff, to mention but a few.

There has been peace and progress since he assumed office with accreditation of new programmes both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. A new school of Paediatric nursing has commenced training.

Facilities have also been improved and clinical activities have not stopped for one day since over three years ago.

Poor maintance of medical facilities and Infrastructures: The management of the hospital always take prompt attention to maintenance and repair of any medical equipments and infrastructural facilities in the hospital as part of these measures to enhance adequate maintenance culture, a monthly program tagged “Ground Round” was held for the staff

Financial irregularities and mis appropriation of fund in purchase of consumables: The hospital will like to inform the public that, every consumables/ equipments purchased for the use of the hospital were carried out in line with due process and based on Procurement Acts. Several committees are involved in this procedure including, advertisement, tender etc.

The issue of being planted and plots into this Government to destabilize the good work of the present administration is laughable to say the least as the Chief Medical Director has faithfully served this administration since its inception about a year ago. He has championed and chaired the Imole Medical outreach which is a major achievement of this administration bringing succour to about 59,000 citizens of the state.

UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo will not relent in its mission in providing qualitative healthcare services to the people with dignity, care and respect, as this is one of the six points agenda of the State Government.

However, we would like to tell the public that they should disregard any release coming from a faceless Osun Eagle Eye on Good Governance. It is a machinery being used by those who does not want the hospital to move forward. The source of the posts is known and is from a man who wants to remain CMD for ever and who has not been attended to by both the past and current governments and has resulted to blackmail and cheap lies out of frustration.
