The Nigeria Police Force has extended the deadline for the recruitment exercise particularly for interested applicants from the South-West.

This was contained in a letter sent from I.O. Saka, Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Bureau of Cabinet and Special Services and addressed to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Community Development and Cooperation.

According to the letter, the extension of the deadline was necessitated by the low rate of applicants from the South-West region after deliberations between the Police Service Commission and stakeholders.

The Ministry was further encouraged to notify the various Community Development Associations (CDA) about the extension of the application deadline.

The letter reads, “I write to inform you that the Nigeria Police Force in conjunction with Police Service Commission, an Agency of the Federal Government entrusted with the responsibility of recruiting new officers for the Force to effectively police the length and breadth of the country, and drastically bring about a reduction in the rate of criminal activities, has observed with concern the apparent lack of interest by applicants from the South Western part of the country in the ongoing recruitment exercise into the Constable Cadre of the Nigeria Police.

“Sequel to this development, the leadership of the Police Service Commission recently held a parley with relevant stakeholders in the zone to discuss modalities for encouraging the youths to put in applications for the exercise as a way of contributing their own quota to improve security and overall development of the nation.

“Consequently, and as a way of facilitating this, the Police Service Commission has graciously approved the extension of the application deadline for more applicants via www.policetecruitment.gov.ng.

“Arising from the above, your Ministry is requested to kindly circulate this information among the various Community Development Associations (CDA) for the benefit of interested applicants from the State while the extension period lasts. Many thanks, please.”
