Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has once again found himself in police custody. The singer was arrested on Saturday, April 13, 2025, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, by operatives of the Kwara State Police Command.

According to a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the arrest followed a formal petition filed by Fuji musician Okunola Saheed, popularly known as Saheed Osupa. The petition reportedly accused Portable of criminal defamation and several other serious allegations.

The police revealed that the petition detailed accusations including criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, character assassination, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, and the use of abusive and insulting language. The police emphasized that these allegations were backed by supporting evidence.

“In view of the weight of these allegations and the supporting evidence presented, the Command secured a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin,” the statement read. It further confirmed that the arrest was carried out in full compliance with legal procedures.

Operatives of the Command acted on the court-issued warrant and proceeded to Abeokuta, where Portable was apprehended at about 7:25 p.m. on Saturday. He was immediately transported to Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, for further investigation.

Upon his arrival in Ilorin, the police confirmed that Portable’s statement was taken in the presence of legal representatives from both parties. The authorities added that the process was conducted in line with due legal protocols.

As of the time of this report, Portable remains in police custody. The Kwara State Police Command stated that arrangements are being made to charge the singer to court without delay.

This latest development adds to the series of legal troubles surrounding Portable, who has become known as much for his controversies as for his music. The Kwara State Police assured the public that the case will be handled transparently and in accordance with the law.
