Security operatives chasing a Yahoo boy have reportedly shot dead a pupil and injured four others in Ogun State.
The deceased was identified as an SS2 student while a passerby was said to be among those injured by stray bullets fired by the security operatives.
The slain student, a 17-year-old student of Unity High School, Ago Ika, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, was leaving the school yesterday after writing an examination.
The Nation learnt that the OP MESA operatives were in pursuit of a suspect internet fraudster aka Yahoo boy, who ran into the vicinity of the school.
The schoolgirl was rushed to Federal Medical Center (FMC), Abeokuta but confirmed dead on arrival, it was said.
Angry schoolmates of the slain teen stormed the Enu-Gada Police Post in Ago Ika area in protest of their colleague’s death.
They hurled stones and broken bottles into the station.
Police spokesman denied knowledge of the pupil’s death, saying, rather, that a police inspector was attacked with a machete, suffering a head injury.
