Serena Williams’ childhood coach Rick Macci says Novak Djokovic is the greatest tennis player of all time “because the numbers tell it all.” Last Sunday, 36-year-old Djokovic made more tennis history when he became the first male player ever to win 24 Grand Slams.

Now, Djokovic is two Slams clear ahead of Rafael Nadal and he also has four more Slams than retired tennis icon Roger Federer. Ever since Djokovic won his 23rd Grand Slam title at this year’s French Open and became the all-time Grand Slam leader, some have been saying that the GOAT debate is over.

“@DjokerNole is the GOAT because the numbers tell it all. 24 SLAMS 96 singles titles. But he is on Mt. Rushmore because when you play the Serbian Sniper he made you RUSH MORE!” Macci wrote on X.

Macci, Pat Rafter declare Djokovic the GOAT

This week, former two-time Grand Slam champion Rafter declared Djokovic “the best player of all time.” “To me, (with) 24 (grand slam singles titles), it’s pretty evident that he’s best player of all time.

He’s got the record and he’s probably got the best win-loss record against all the players against each other as well, and against the other top players,” Rafter told Australian media.

Meanwhile, Djokovic is hungry for more.
After winning the US Open, Djokovic said he is not chasing a specific Slam number but also said he wants to achieve more success before retiring. “I don’t put any number right now in my mind on how many slams I want to win until the end of my career.

I don’t really have any number. I’ll continue to prioritize them as my most important tournaments and where I want to play the best tennis. So that will not change. That will stay the same in the next season or I don’t know how many more seasons I have in my legs. So let’s see,” Djokovic said.
