Popular blogger Martins Otse, aso known as VeryDarkMan, on Thursday, met with the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, following allegations that raised serious concerns about the integrity of prison administration in Lagos State.

Meanwhile, Tunji-Ojo has ordered the suspension of several officers in charge of the Maximum and Minimum Custodial Centres in Kirikiri, Lagos and some others facilities in the country.

The minister’s directive followed a leaked audio recording shared by VeryDarkMan, exposing alleged misconduct within the custodial system.

In the audio, crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, who had been sentenced to six months in prison, was reportedly given unauthorised access to a private apartment outside the facility and received special treatment, raising questions about corruption within the prison system.

Meanwhile, it was alleged that Bobrisky paid bribes amounting to ₦15 million to officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to have money laundering charges against him dismissed.

VeryDarkMan, expressing his satisfaction with the suspension of the prison guards, reaffirmed his dedication to supporting Nigeria.

He shared a video of his conversation with the minister on Facebook on Thursday.

VeryDarkMan said: “Honorable Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, you have proven yourself to me before, so I was relaxed, watching, and boom—you did it again with the suspension of some officers who might be involved in this whole Bobrisky saga. Much love, Egbon.

“It’s a fight to make Nigeria a better place, and we will definitely succeed with our small efforts. Keep that fire burning. We’ve exchanged ideas, and I believe in you for now—though as a politician, you could change tomorrow. But for now, you are the guy. God bless you. I love you, Egbon.”

Earlier, SaharaReporters reported that Bobrisky had found himself at the centre of a burgeoning scandal following revelations about his time in Kirikiri Prison.

Despite being sentenced to six months for naira abuse in April, it was gathered that allegedly Bobrisky spent only three weeks incarcerated before allegedly negotiating his early release.

However, the controversy started on Tuesday when VeryDarkMan shared a recorded phone conversation in which Bobrisky confessed to serving her prison term outside the facility.

According to his claims, he reportedly paid about N15 million to have EFCC drop ‘money laundering’ charges against her.

FIJ exclusively reports that sources familiar with the situation revealed that Bobrisky was taken to Kirikiri Custodial Centre following her sentencing in April but was released after just three weeks. However, he was officially freed from prison in August.

A prison official told FIJ that “Bob spent only three weeks here with us in Kirikiri before she was transferred to another undisclosed location.”

“This was where she spent her time; it was all arranged, and money was involved,” the source added.

The official revealed that Bobrisky was “guarded like a president” until the socialite’s “secret departure after three weeks.”

“She received VIP treatment throughout her stay,” the source continued. “She lived in a special cell. The money she claimed to have paid is true; there are no lies about that. Yes, she did pay.”

While prison authorities restricted Bobrisky’s interactions with other inmates, this limited the visibility of his eventual disappearance.

“There was one instance when a guy was on a video call with his girlfriend and unexpectedly turned the camera to Bobrisky,” the official recounted. “This was considered an invasion of her privacy, and as a consequence, he was confined to his cell for nearly two months.”

“As I mentioned, she was heavily guarded, which minimized such incidents. She was quietly taken away after three weeks,” the source said.
