Honourable Jamiu Olawumi, the Special Adviser to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on Education has confirmed that the Osun government does not use “The state of Osun” for official purposes beyond the state in the last ten years.
Oyetola’s aide said all the letters sent to other states in Nigeria and the World Bank for official purposes was not written with the name tag of “State of Osun.”
Olawumi maintained that his principal is only recognized as Governor of Osun state across the country.
He said, “What I know and the correspondences I’ve read through that occurred in the last 9 years in Osun, any letter we are sending out of the state carries Osun State till now.”
“I don’t know when we have written the world bank in the last ten years where we wrote state of Osun. And I know international best practices compel me to say the truth.”
“Governor Gboyega Oyetola when he gets to Abuja is called the Governor of Osun State and not Governor of the state of Osun.”
Confirming the indifference of the government to the name tag, Olawumi said the present administration has not appealed the court judgements on recognizing Osun State and not state of Osun because the name is not official nor recognized.
“We have two court judgements now that said there is nothing like state of Osun which I think we have not appealed,” he said.
