The President, Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife Chapter, has charged Federal Government to grant health workers demands.

Anuforo made the calls during an interview with journalists on Tuesday, in Ile-Ife.

He said that although resident doctors and consultants are not on strike, but everywhere is under lock and keys for the past thirteen days.

According to him, electricity and water problems have emanated since June 1 due to health workers national strike.

“We’ve been trying our best to render our services to our patients within the circumstances, but it’s not being so easy without other sectors.

“Though after Joint Health Sector Unions(JOHESU) met with President Bola Hammed Tinubu, they promised to call off the strike, but locally there’s no sign of resumption for now,”he explained.

According to him, doctors have cancelled surgeries, limit their clinics, for there’s no way to do it alone and it’s been hard for the resident doctors,

He lamented that between three to six months, new appointees have not received salaries for the past six months for IPPIS has not come to screened them.

“It’s been tough, we have to discharge some patients, while those that we retained, the Union has come to lock up the wards including CMD’s office.

The President admonished Federal Government to provide affordable healthcare delivery for generality as the benefits of democracy.
