The Lagos State Police Command has detained a commercial s£x worker, Joy Kelvin, for allegedly stabbing a client, identified as 48-year-old Okafor, to death in his home.
The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Monday at the Jakande Housing Estate in Lekki.
The Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the case to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), detailing the disturbing events that led to the fatality.
According to Hundeyin, the murder was reported by a friend of the deceased, who stated that Okafor had brought Kelvin to his residence the previous night.
In the early hours of the morning, the friend received a frantic call informing him that Okafor had been stabbed in his home by Kelvin.
“He was rushed to the General Hospital in Marina, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor,” Hundeyin said.
Upon receiving the report, detectives from the Ilasan Division swiftly responded to the scene and apprehended the suspect.
“The scene was promptly visited by officers, and the suspect, Joy Kelvin, was taken into custody,” Hundeyin added.
The police have since evacuated the body of the victim, which has been deposited at the General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba, pending an autopsy.
Efforts are also underway to contact the deceased’s family members.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing, with authorities working to uncover the full details of the tragic encounter.
