Iga Swiatek has learned her projected path to defending her US Open title. Swiatek, the top-seeded player, kicks off her US Open campaign by playing against world No 92 Rebecca Peterson. In the second round, Swiatek will likely meet former world No 20 Daria Saville.

The third round should bring Swiatek her first seeded opponent as the Pole is projected to meet No 29 seed Elisabetta Cocciaretto there. In the US Open round-of-16, Swiatek is projected to meet 16th-seeded Veronika Kudermetova.

In the US Open quarterfinal, we could see a rematch of last week’s Montreal semifinal as Swiatek and No 6 seed Cori Gauff are projected to meet again in New York. In the US Open semifinal, Swiatek is projected to clash against fourth-seeded Elena Rybakina.

The projected US Open final is between Swiatek and No 2 Aryna Sabalenka.

Swiatek set to defend her US Open title
Earlier this year, 22-year-old Swiatek successfully defended her French Open title. Now, Swiatek is set to defend another Grand Slam title.

After losing to Gauff in the Montreal semifinal, Swiatek was asked about the difficulty of defending a Grand Slam title. “Well, for now it doesn’t because I haven’t really been thinking about that. I was just focused on this tournament.

I know from my experience already that being a defending champion is not easy. I’m going to kind of take it easy on myself and just try to do everything step by step. Last year’s tournament was also really tough. I could be out in the fourth round if you watched my matches.

So I’ll just fight and I’ll see how it’s going to go,” Swiatek said. Also in Montreal, Swiatek was asked about her routine during the US Open. “I don’t have routine, honestly. Do you, like, Immersive Theater? So last year we went and it was great.

I’m going to go again. I’m not going to tell you which one (smiling). Besides that, for sure, like, one nice dinner and a lot of practicing. That’s going to be the routine,” Swiatek said.
