Mr. Adekunle Sikiru, popularly known as ‘Abacus’, a lecturer at the department of Mass Communication, in Osun State Polytechnic, iree brought a rare muse, life, dimension, synergy and energy into his ‘Public Relations Case Study’ (MAC423) class, while lecturing his HND2 mass communication students today.
Abacus displayed a mastery of communication; showcased incredible professionalism as a Public Relations Expert, and portrayed an indelible height of imparting knowledge into his students.

What is the muse?
The atmosphere in Abacus’ class received a fresh air when he was to explain how EXHIBITION was a tool in the practice of Public Relations. After Abacus explained that “exhibition is a public display of goods and services, to promote sales”, he further put his explanation into practice, and these act stunned his students.
To explain EXHIBITION, Abacus adopted the best approach, practical. He enjoined students who sells physical products to bring their products to the podium, and he displayed a number of products produced by students, which include peanut; insecticide; chips, well known as ‘Dodo Ikire’; Snacks, male and female wears.
After displaying the products publicly, he announced the prices of the products, and explained the usefulness of each product, in a persuasive way.
After Abacus’ illustration, he bought some of the products that were used to explain EXHIBITION, and he shared it to members of the class. An exemplary act that promotes entrepreneurship.
Incredibly, Abacus’ kindness and generosity did not end there, he randomly asked “if any student was marking birthday today”, and a lady was fortunate and he bought one head tie for her.
The smile and happiness was glaring, students were enthused and eager to learn. Abacus’ style of motivating students is a template for lecturers who wants the best for their students.
Mr. Adekunle Sikiru, fondly known as Abacus is a distinguished lecturer in the Mass Communication department at OSPOLY. Abacus hails from the historic Abaku’s compound in Osogbo.
Adekunle is a workaholic. He is an alumnus of Osun State Polytechnic and further studies at Fountain University and Adeleke University, Abacus excels in broadcast journalism. He skillfully juggles roles as President of MAOS and Publicity Secretary of OSPAA. He is a devoted family man with three lovely children. Abacus inspires students with his philosophy of destiny and perseverance, urging them to stay focused and committed to their goals, undeterred by obstacles or distractions.
