Many of his fans might not know that Abdullahi Maruff Adisa popularly known as ‘Trinity Guy’, started out as an actor, but he moved into prank skits.
He said he had an interest in making people laugh, and both manifested in his acting prowess and skit-making.
Trinity Guy revealed this and more in this chat with our correspondent. He said: “It has always been in my interest to make people laugh. I’ve always been fascinated by the power of humour and creativity to bring people together and make a positive impact.
“With prank skit making, I love the challenge of coming up with innovative and unexpected ideas that can make people laugh and smile. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see my skits bring joy to others and create a sense of community and shared experience.”
Talking about how his journey into the creative world began, he stated: “Before I became a skit maker, I had a career in acting, appearing in various movies and TV shows.
“While I didn’t play main character roles, I enjoyed playing supporting characters and bringing unique personalities to life on screen. I had the opportunity to work on a range of projects, from drama to comedy, and even landed a few memorable cameo roles.
However, as much as I loved acting, I found myself craving more creative control and flexibility in my work. With skit making, I can write, act, and produce my own content, allowing me to tap into my own humour and creativity.”
He explained why he created the character Trinity Skit Comedian, stating that he chose to portray this character because he wanted to create a unique and relatable persona that embodies the spirit of humour, creativity and empathy.
“I aim to use this character to showcase the power of humour in breaking down barriers, sparking meaningful conversations, and bringing people together,” he added.
On how he got the name ‘Trinity’, he said his siblings and himself are triplets, and “growing up, our parents would often refer to us as the ‘Trinity Trio’ or simply ‘Trinity’ for short.”
He noted that it was a term of endearment that symbolised “our unbreakable bond and unity.”
He said up till now, people still get surprised when they see his ‘twin brother’ in a skit with with him, “thinking we’re just twins and then even more surprised when they realise I have a sister too.”
With fame and stardom, he added that it has been a mixed bag.
He confessed that while stardom has brought him many incredible opportunities and experiences, it’s also deprived him of some things that he cherishes.
He stated: “First and foremost, stardom has deprived me of the freedom to make mistakes without judgment. As a public figure, I feel like I’m under a microscope, and every move I make is scrutinized. While that can be motivating to be my best self, it can also be exhausting and limiting.
“Furthermore, stardom has deprived me of a sense of normalcy and routine. My schedule is always packed, and I’m constantly travelling or working on new projects.
“While I’m grateful for the opportunities, I miss being able to have a regular routine, like working out at the same gym every week or hanging out with friends.”
Moreover, stardom has deprived me of some meaningful relationships and connections. While I’ve gained a huge following and support from fans, I’ve also lost some close friendships and connections along the way.
“People often treat me differently because of my status, and it can be hard to find genuine relationships that aren’t influenced by my fame. Of course, these are small prices to pay for the platform and opportunities I have, but it’s important to acknowledge the trade-offs that come with stardom.”
Despite the challenges, Trinity Guy said he is grateful for the blessings and “tries to stay grounded and focused on what truly matters; my relationships, my health, and my happiness.”
Where does he draw his inspiration from? And he has an answer: “I draw inspiration from my own experiences, observations, and interactions with people from diverse backgrounds.”
What about his dream beyond prank skit-making? Trinity Guy said he is excited to share that he’s venturing into movie production, real estate and fish farming.
He said: “I’ve always been fascinated by storytelling and the art of filmmaking, and I’m working on producing my own feature film.
“It’s a comedy, of course! I’m learning so much about the industry and enjoying the process of bringing a script to life. My goal is to create movies that inspire, uplift, and make people laugh and I hope to collaborate with talented writers, directors, and actors to bring more amazing stories to the big screen.
“Another goal of mine is to dive into real estate, but not just as an investor or buyer. I’m actually learning the art of building houses myself, I know it sounds unconventional, but I’ve always been interested in design and construction, and I’m now learning the art of building houses myself.
“My goal is to create eco-friendly, sustainable homes that not only reduce carbon footprints but also promote healthy living and community building. I’m not just stopping at building houses, I’m also looking to sell them to buyers who share my vision of sustainable living.
“I believe that everyone deserves a safe and comfortable place to call home, and I hope to make a difference in my community through this venture.
Lastly, I’m also exploring the world of fish farming, and selling seafood to people in my community.”
