A truck driver on Sunday was confirmed dead in a road crash along the Sagamu-Benin highway in Ogun State.
New Telegraph learnt that the accident occurred around the Adelex axis in Ikenne Local Government Area on Saturday, where two women were injured.
Following the development, Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Ogun State Traffic Compliance Enforcement (TRACE) Corps spokesperson said a white Man Diesel truck marked AGL 830 XN and an unregistered red Mack truck were involved in the crash.
Akinbiyi further explained that the crash, according to eyewitnesses, was caused by the driver of the Man diesel truck, who lost control due to overspeeding and rammed into the back of the Mack truck.
“The driver of the Man diesel truck lost his life in the process due to the impact of the collision,” he stated, adding that the two female passengers who sustained injuries were seated beside the driver.
The victims, he disclosed, were taken to Idera Hospital, Sagamu, where the deceased’s corpse was deposited in the morgue by men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
