At least two persons have been confirmed killed in an ongoing attack by gunmen in Ankwa Ward in the Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
SaharaReporters gathered that the gunmen in large numbers are moving from house to house, killing and kidnapping residents without any hindrance.
Chairman of the council area, who confirmed the ongoing attack, Mr Peter Agite, called on residents to remain calm despite the onslaught.
“I am appealing to citizens and residents of Kachia Local Government Area, especially Ankwa Ward, to remain calm and law-abiding.
“The security agencies are on top of the situation. We will not rest until we bring an end to this evil.
“My heartfelt condolences go to the family of those that lost their lives,” he said.
Spokesperson for the police in the state, Mohammed Jalige, when contacted by our correspondent, asked for some time to reach out to the police division in the area and get back with more details.
He had, however, yet to do so as of the time of this report.
The latest attack comes three days after terrorists bombed a Kaduna-Abuja bound train, killing several passengers and kidnapping scores more.
The incident has not only caused global outrage but further exposed the failures of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to protect Nigerians from terrorists, who have continued to kill citizens at will.
