In a remarkable recognition of academic excellence, the Nigerian Army has selected Dr. Adesola Adesote, an Associate Professor in the Department of History and International Studies at Osun State University (UNIOSUN), to join a prestigious research team tasked with documenting the life and legacy of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, CFR, NAM.
In a statement released on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, UNIOSUN’s Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, described Dr. Adesote as a distinguished scholar with vast expertise in historical documentation and military history.
He noted that Dr. Adesote’s selection for this national assignment reflects UNIOSUN’s rising reputation as a center of academic excellence and intellectual contributions to national development.
The biography project, initiated by the Nigerian Army, aims to preserve the legacy of Lt. Gen. Lagbaja, a decorated officer whose exemplary leadership and service to Nigeria remain a model for future military officers and the general public.
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye, expressed pride in Dr. Adesote’s selection, reaffirming the university’s commitment to fostering scholarship that shapes national discourse.
“This recognition by the Nigerian Army underscores the depth of academic brilliance at Osun State University.
