Former Barcelona striker, Martin Braithwaite, has revealed that Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi made him feel comfortable at Camp Nou when he first signed for the Blaugrana back in 2020 from CD Leganes.
Braithwaite said this while recalling his time sharing the dressing room with Messi, who he feels is very down to earth.
The 31-year-old also said that he was happy for Messi for winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Argentina this month.
Braithwaite was a teammate with Messi at Barcelona before the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner left the Catalan club for PSG in the summer of 2021.
“When I signed for Barcelona, he was one of the first guys to come see me and ask me if everything was good,” Braithwaite told Football Espana.
“He made me feel comfortable at the club, and it shows that he is something that is really down to earth. Everyone knows who he’s, but in the dressing room, he’s completely calm and humble.”
He added, “I am happy for him. I think the World Cup was the only thing missing in his career and now he has done everything that you can do as a footballer.”
