Coco Gauff won the 2023 US Open, beating Aryna Sabalenka in the final in three sets, sending the crowd at Arthur Ashe Stadium into ecstasy and winning the first Slam title of her young career.Since she was a fifteen-year-old playing at Wimbledon, the American teenager has continued her step-by-step path, first reaching the final at the Roland Garros 2022, and then playing a great Summer on the North American hard-courts, culminating with the triumph at Flushing Meadows. In 2023 she continued her growth and at the US Open she won her first Slam title.

Probably the first of a long series, for this young American who has shown that she has, as well as talent, a head on her shoulders. It’s easy, yes, to predict that Gauff won’t be one of the many Slam champion tennis players by chance.Sabalenka wins the first set 6-2.

The match seemed entirely on the Belarusian’s side, but after missing a chance at the start of the second she suffered a comeback from Gauff. Coco plays very fast tennis, emulating what his young SUP colleague Carlos Alcaraz has often done, closing the second set 6-3 and rebalancing the match.

The American plays an amazing third set, going 4-0, and then closing 6-2. Coco Gauff won the US Open and will rise to number 3 in the ranking, while Sabalenka, who won the Australian Open this year, will be the new no.1 in the WTA ranking.

Gauff is in a golden moment having won Washington and Cincinnati, and here in New York she was carried by a crowd that was all for her, the true heir to Serena Williams.

Brad Gilbert’s work is giving superior results: since he has been following the American tennis player, he seems to have managed to bring out all of Coco’s latent talent, bringing it to light and giving it three-dimensionality.Meanwhile, Tennis Channel shared a video on 11 years later, she is the protagonist of the US Open:
