The Obalufon Royal Dynasty of Ile-Ife has formally launched The Obalufon Phenomenon in Ile-Ife and Yoruba History at a grand event held at Oba Sijuwade Memorial Hall, Enuwa, Ile-Ife.

The book, which explores the historical significance of Obalufon in Yoruba heritage, was unveiled in the presence of esteemed royal fathers, scholars, and cultural enthusiasts.

The event had as its Distinguished Guest of Honour and Royal Father of the Day, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, whose presence underscored the historical importance of the book.

The occasion was chaired by His Royal Majesty Oba Michael Odunayo Ajayi, Arowatawa II, the Elerinmo of Erinmo Ijesha, adding further royal prestige to the gathering.

Delivering the keynote address was Professor Siyan Oyeweso, Provost of the Postgraduate College at Osun State University and Pro-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University. His speech highlighted the book’s academic value and its role in preserving Yoruba heritage.

The book was reviewed by Professor Gbenga Fasiku, Director of the Institute of Cultural Studies at Obafemi Awolowo University, alongside Professor Adesubola Adepoju, Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee for the event.

Their analyses provided deep insight into the book’s scholarly contributions and cultural significance.

Hosted by The Obalufon Council of Sookos, the event also featured a welcome speech by Professor Muheeb Opeloye and remarks from key dignitaries.

In his royal speech, Ooni Ogunwusi commended the authors and organizers for their dedication to preserving Yoruba history, declaring that the legacy of Obalufon remains a cornerstone of Ife and Yoruba civilization.

The event was enriched by captivating cultural performances, adding a traditional flair to the historic gathering.
