Andy Murray, the former world number one tennis player, will be making his 15th appearance this year at Wimbledon, widely regarded as the most prestigious tournament in the sport. But it has been revealed that his children will be banned from watching him play at SW19.

According to Wimbledon’s age-restriction rules, “Babies and children under five are NOT allowed into Show Courts (Centre, No.1, No.2, No.3, 12 & 18).” It would mean that two of the youngest children of Andy Murray, named Teddy, 3, and Lola, 2, are not going to see their father play in Show Courts, where he is expected to compete in his matches during the tournament.

However, the two other children of the multi-time Wimbledon champion, named Sophia, 7, and Edie, 5, will be allowed to attend their father’s match at SW19.

During the final of Rothesay Open in Nottingham, on June 18, which was celebrated as Father’s Day, all the children of Andy Murray, accompanied by his wife Kim Sears, made a surprise appearance in the stands. He went onto defeat Frenchman Arthur Cazaux by 6-4, 6-4 to win his second consecutive grass court tournament, after claiming the Surbiton Trophy earlier in the month.

At the post-match, Murray talked about why two of his children won’t be able to watch him play from the stands in Wimbledon. He was quoted as saying, “They are not allowed to watch. Well, they (Wimbledon) have pretty strict rules. There is an age limit. I would want to say they have to be over six. There is only one of them that could potentially do it. And she is probably the one who is the least interested in watching!”

“After I had kids, I was motivated to keep playing so they could watch me when I was older, but they are not really that interested! I thought they might be but they are not. It is really nice for them to come, I have loved having them come and watch today, but I realise for them, they are more interested in other things,” remarked Andy Murray.
