The world’s richest tennis star Jessica Pegula overcame the challenge of lingerie model Camila Giorgi to progress at Indian Wells.
Third seed Pegula, who has a phenomenally large net worth of £5.5billion, fought back from a set down against world No. 46 Giorgi after she’d claimed the first 6-3 in their second-round clash.
A resounding response saw her level the score with a 6-1 second set, while she claimed the victory with a 6-2 third and final set. She’s reached the third round where she’ll face Russian Anastasia Potapova, who’s ranked 28th by the WTA.
Pegula has taken her game to the next level in recent months, matching her best career Grand Slam result by reaching the quarter-finals of the Australian Open in January before winning the Qatar Open doubles with fellow American Coco Gauff last month.
She’s pursued a career in the sport since a young age – despite being set for life thanks to her dad Terry, who has earned billions through natural gas development.
