In an effort to reduce poverty and ensure that women and youths are self-reliant, Aisha Abubakar Malami Centre for Women Development (AAMCWD) has empowered over 500 women and youths with N25 million in Kebbi State.
The money was distributed to the beneficiaries carefully selected across the 225 wards in the state, to serve as start-up capitals for them to establish their own businesses and be productive members of the society.
The founder of the centre, Hajiya Aisha Abubakar-Malami, wife of the Attorney- General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, made this known at the special programme for women and youths empowerment organised by the centre in Birnin Kebbi.
According to her, the centre is aimed at promoting women and youth empowerment through entrepreneurship, education, as well as enlightenment programmes.
She also said that the gesture would provide opportunities for many youths in the 225 wards in the state and enable them to be self-reliant and be liberated from shackles of poverty.
“The women and youth leaders from the 225 wards in the 21 local governments from across the state will be given N50,000 each.
