AfDB Postpones African Economic Conference

The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) has announced the postponement of the 2025 African Economic Conference (AEC), which was initially scheduled to take place from December 7 to December 8, 2025.

In a statement released on its official website, the AfDB disclosed that a new date for the conference, jointly organised with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will be communicated once it is confirmed.

Describing the AEC as one of Africa’s most influential platforms for economic policy dialogue, the Bank noted that the conference continues to play a crucial role in shaping the continent’s development agenda. Since its launch in 2006, the AEC has served as a strategic meeting point for economists, policymakers, academics, researchers, and development experts to interrogate Africa’s most pressing challenges and explore practical solutions.

“The African Development Bank Group offers its sincere apologies for any inconvenience this change may cause our stakeholders. A new date will be announced as soon as it is confirmed,” the statement read.

The annual conference remains a key forum for fostering knowledge exchange, research presentations, and collaborative policy innovation aimed at accelerating sustainable development across the continent.
