Kidnappers Release Abducted Ora-Igbomina Sons After Ransom Payment

The Asiwaju of Ora-Igbomina, Yemi Farounbi, has announced the release of two sons of the community, Sunday Oyekanmi Adeyeye (Tayese) and Sunday Busayo Adewumi who were abducted at their residence on February 1, 2026.

In a statement personally signed by Ambassador Farounbi, he expressed profound gratitude to God for the safe return of the victims, who spent four weeks in captivity.

He described their release as a great relief to their families and the entire Ora-Igbomina community, noting that the period of their abduction was marked by anxiety, fervent prayers, and collective concern. He commended the resilience of the victims and appreciated the support, solidarity, and prayers offered by community members both at home and in the diaspora.

“Though several millions of naira were paid as ransom, including a motorbike and mobile phones, we thank God that they are alive and have returned to us safely,” he stated.

Ambassador Farounbi also acknowledged the efforts of security agencies and individuals who worked behind the scenes to facilitate the safe release of the abductees. He urged residents to remain vigilant and to continue cooperating with security authorities to enhance safety across the community.

“I want to appeal to the governments of Osun, Kwara, and Ekiti states to form a strategic security alliance to strengthen internal security. I also call on the Federal Government to, as a matter of urgency, deploy additional soldiers and police personnel to our boundary areas with Kwara and Ekiti. These routes are often exploited by criminal elements to terrorize our people,” he added.

He concluded by calling for sustained unity, faith, and collective responsibility in safeguarding lives and property, emphasizing that the security of Ora-Igbomina remains a shared responsibility.
